Spain ( Iqbal's Haspaniah )

                                                        Spain
( Penned during departing moments )

Spain! Thou art the custodian of the Muslim blood,
Like the Harem, thou art holy in my view,

Hidden in thy soil are marks of the sujoods,
Permeated in thy morning breeze are silent adhaans,

Their points of spears glittered like the stars,
In thy mountainous slopes stood their tents,

If thou need henna for thy beautification,
The Muslim blood is readily available for the same,

How can Muslims be intimidated by untruth?
Granted, they lack potential and don’t possess might,

My eyes have seen even Granada but,
A traveller is not consoled either in journey or in sojourn,*

I even witnessed, reacted too, narrated too, listened too,
My heart found no solace either in observation or in the feedback.

( Suggestions invited for betterment )

·        The last ruler of the state of Granada, Abu Abdullah, was extremely
chickenhearted, faithless, disgraceful and unambitious. He handed over
the keys of the Alhumra Palace to the queen, Isabella, and set out to lead his last days of meaningless life in disgrace and helplessness. At a
travel of twenty miles from Granada, he made a halt for sojourn on a
hill overlooking the Palace. When he saw the Alhumra Palace, he started weeping like children. Seeing his condition his mother, a lady
with a keen sense of honour, said, “ O the chickenhearted! When you
could not defend the Palace like men of honour, what you will achieve
by weeping like women?"
